Mountain Trout Camp

Welcome to our Hidden Gem in the Northern Bruce Peninsula

Mountain Trout Camp is a rustic, quiet and family oriented seasonal campground open from the second Friday of May until Thanksgiving Monday (October 10, 2022). Our campground is located on the shores of pristine, in-land, spring-fed Gillies Lake in the Northern Bruce Peninsula, 30 minutes south of Tobermory. We offer cottage, cabin and trailer rentals, overnight tent and RV camping, and seasonal camping.

Our 36.5 acres include:

​- Lakefront with beach for swimming (no lifeguard on duty)

- Shallow wading area with kids' water slide

- Inflatable waterpark (see our Waterpark Safety Rules)

- Aluminum dock water ramp and floating swim rafts

- Warmer water than nearby Georgian Bay

- Fishing for trout, bass, rock bass, herring and perch

​​- Ponds and seasonal marshy areas

- Plenty of forest and open space to run around and ride bikes

- Spectacular sunsets and very dark starry nights

- Private onsite hiking trails

- Abundant wildlife including Black Bear (see our Bear Policy), local and migratory birds, foxes, snowshoe hares, red squirrels, frogs, turtles and snakes

- Two children's playgrounds

- Sports fields

- Children's bicycles (free of charge, limited availability)

- Off-leash dog park

Enjoy our Amenities:

- Boat rentals (motorized aluminum boats, aluminum rowboat, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, pedal boat). Life vests free of charge

- Boat slip rentals and a private boat launch (available to our campers only)

- Wi-Fi available for a fee

- Firewood, worms, ice, propane exchange, etc. No outside firewood permitted

- Clean, filtered potable water throughout the campground

- Outdoor dish washing station

- Public washrooms including showers at no charge, public laundry

- Fire pits and picnic benches at each campsite and cabin

- Muskoka chairs and picnic benches throughout the campground

- Fish cleaning station

There are plenty of local tourist attractions that include: the Bruce Trail which is a 20-minute walk from our front entrance, public beaches, the towns of Tobermory and Lion's Head, The Grotto, Flower Pot Island, local lighthouses, The Chi-Cheemaun Ferry, Manitoulin Island, Singing Sands, and provincial parks.
