Mountain Trout Camp

Welcome to our Hidden Gem in the Northern Bruce Peninsula

Mountain Trout Camp is a rustic, quiet and family oriented seasonal lakefront campground that offers roofed accommodation rentals, overnight tent and trailer camping and seasonal trailer camping. Whether your planning your week summer vacation with family and friends or are looking for a short getaway, come experience our unique remoteness and the lush nature that surrounds us. Our amenities and activities will keep the whole family entertained, along with the abundance of local Bruce Peninsula tourist attractions. We are conveniently located only a few hours from the GTA and half an hour from Tobermory. Our camping season is open between the second Friday of May until Thanksgiving Monday (May 10 to October 14, 2024). 

                                                                                                               

Our 36.5 acres include:

​- Lakefront onto the crystal clear waters of Gillies Lake

- Beach and shallow wading area with kids' slide

- Inflatable waterpark and swim rafts (July and August)

- Private boat launch and boat slips

- Motorized boat rentals (fishing boats and pontoon boat)

- Non-motorized boat rentals (canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, pedal boat, rowboat) 

- Fishing for trout, bass, rock bass and herring 

- Fish cleaning station

- Clean, treated potable water throughout entire campground

- Public washrooms, showers with hot water, public laundry

- Outdoor dishwashing station

​​- Onsite hiking trails

- Plenty of open space to run around and ride bikes

- Recreational sports including soccer, badminton, volleyball, basketball, tetherball, ping pong table, horseshoe pits, bocce, cornhole, darts, bicycles, toy bins and more

- Two children's playgrounds

- Planned recreational events

- Abundant wildlife including local and migratory birds, foxes, snowshoe hares, red squirrels, frogs, turtles black bears and snakes

- Off-leash dog park

- Firepits and picnic tables at each campsite and roofed accommodation

- Septic dump station and mobile pump outs

- Spectacular sunsets and dark starry nights

- Office that sells snacks, beverages, Wi-Fi access, worms, ice, propane exchange and firewood (no outside firewood permitted)

- Cellular coverage outside office area

There are plenty of local tourist attractions that include: the Bruce Trail, including access to the main trail only a 20-minute walk from our front entrance, public beaches, the towns of Tobermory and Lion's Head, The Grotto, Flower Pot Island, lighthouses, The Chi-Cheemaun Ferry, Manitoulin Island, Singing Sands, and provincial parks.
